Pay Offer Appraisal & Talks Update
As promised earlier in the week, herewith an update on the Gatwick dispute resolution talks as well as an appraisal of the improved pay offer. Your reps have taken time to deconstruct the offer and explain the detail and provide some context, please take time to read and consider the advice contained in this email.
Firstly, we acknowledge that it has been difficult to objectively assess the pay offer due to the strained industrial situation at Gatwick and current ‘Failure to Agree’. Talks commenced this week aimed at resolving these issues. We can report that talks to date have been constructive in nature and will continue over the coming weeks.
Crucially, your reps explained to the company that our outstanding issues were likely to be distracting our members from being able to give the improved pay offer its due consideration. Furthermore, we believed it would be positive if the company could demonstrate a measure of good faith and commitment to dispute resolution talks.
In response to this we have seen a positive breakthrough in talks. The company has proposed an interim solution to the 3-Day Las Vegas issue by offering Gatwick cabin crew a ‘One Light’ payment of £85 per trip operated. The company propose to back date this payment to the start of the summer season and continue to pay this allowance for the remainder of the season, while meaningful talks aimed at negotiating a permanent solution to dispute items progress.
This we believe to be a positive step towards a final resolution and gives members the ability to consider this improved pay offer objectively, without distraction.
