Member Update – 17th April 2020
We hope you are keeping well and staying safe during these difficult times. We are now just over two weeks into the Furlough period, so here is a quick update from your reps.
The majority of the scheduling team have also been furloughed which has caused a delay in updating some Gatwick rosters. Rosters are in the process of being updated, however if you have received an email confirming your Furlough status from BA, this supersedes your roster.
We are able to confirm that parental leave will also be recredited for the periods of April and May. Again, due to reduced manpower in the scheduling team, this may take some time to action.
Crew have been in touch regarding bidding for June. As this is considered personal admin you will be able to enter bids once the bid window has opened. However, at this time we are unable to confirm if or when the window will open.
Your trade union reps continue to engage in talks with the company in relation to local recall arrangements. Network planning are currently working on the forward Gatwick schedule, post furlough. The flying programme will determine how many crew are required, when they are needed to return and if the furlough period is to be extended. As soon as we have more clarity, we will update you.
Any crew members who have questions about SEP or other queries are able to contact LGWcrew.email@example.com. This account is be monitored by the remaining Gatwick management team who should be able to handle any queries.
As some of you are aware, we are fighting on behalf of a number of new entrant colleagues who were laid off towards the end of their new entrant courses. Our position is that these colleagues should also be furloughed and covered by the RMP Agreement, the company disagrees. Talks are ongoing and we will update members when we have news to share. Please be assured we are doing everything we can to protect these colleagues.
As a reminder, to support members Unite has arranged to reduce subscriptions over the furlough period. This will be handled automatically; you will not need to do anything to receive the reduction.
Finally, keeping in touch. Like all areas of the Gatwick fleet your trade union is currently operating with reduced capacity. Your reps are available for advice and support through email or by calling the office number between 09:00 – 17:00, Monday-Friday.
On behalf of your Gatwick reps we wish you well. Please keep safe and we will continue to update you on developments as and when possible.
